QualificationsThe Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high
quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and
specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the
scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and
specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other
members of the care team, the RN provides individualized,
comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing
models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves
as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a
commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support
an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that
contribute to overall departmental performance.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient condition during admission and during each
shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any
changes in patient status.
- Assesses patient environment for any safety risks and/or
non-compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain
management, including reassessments after appropriate
intervention.
- Assesses patient condition for signs and symptoms of abuse or
neglect. Reports any indications of abuse or neglect to medical
provider(s), nurse leader, and/or appropriate agency.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered
by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in
the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors
patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes
as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to
medication.
- Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient
requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them
proactively.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical
condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible
side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical
terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal
follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease
prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and
families/caregivers for future self-management.
- Manages a care team, providing oversight and delegation to
members as appropriate.
- Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process
improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and
enhance the exceptional care provided to patients.
- Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a
multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and
deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and
supports recovery.
- Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface
between healthcare providers and community support systems who
coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient group
Specialty-Specific
Responsibilities:
- Prepares patient for cardiac catheterization, monitors patient
during cath, and assists patient during recovery.
- Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports
unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.
- Maintains images and operates image vault and hemodynamic
server.
- Observes proper radiation safety on all exams.
- Assists with cardiovascular data mining and submission.
- Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for
patients/procedures.
- Cleans and disinfects procedure room, pre op, and post
procedure area and equipment.
- Follows department policies and protocols for safety in Cardiac
Cath Lab.
What qualifications you will need:
- MUST HAVE ATLEAST 1-2 years of EP or direct Cath Lab
experience
- Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance
with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact
license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of
hire.
- Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly
preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support)
certification required.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal
communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written
instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skillsHCA
