Job Description The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for processing and reconciling high volume transactions in our newly created premium operations team, which reports to the Treasury Accounting Manager. These duties involve the following key areas: processing receipts of cash for premiums, balancing and reconciling cash, investigating, and clearing suspense items, and processing and monitoring payments. The successful candidate is extremely detail oriented and meticulously organized. Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following : Other duties may be assigned. Accountable for the processing of funds related to premium receipts and refunds Reviews and processes un-posted suspense items, transfers misdirected payments, makes remote deposits Processes and monitors all stop pays, positive pay, NSF items Reconciles and adjusts monthly agent commission payments to reports Clears discrepancies identified in the balancing process. Initiates electronic transfers including ACH Assists with the escheat process Recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service Supports operational procedures and practices within the accounting department Provides backup to other key areas within the department. Maintains accurate and complete documents and files for audit Provides administrative and clerical support for the department Assists with year-end reporting requirements (audit support/1099s) Required Qualifications: Education/Experience: Associates degree preferred but not required 3-5 years in accounts receivable/billing/payables or customer service Insurance industry experience preferred Experience working in company computer system/database Skills and Abilities: Workflow - High attention to detail; great at reconciling and organizing work with multiple ongoing projects Problem Solving - Gathers and analyzes information; able to focus on and ask the right questions to troubleshoot a problem Teamwork - Able to work professionally and contribute to part of a team, but able to understand objectives and perform the work independently Flexibility - Able to adapt to changing priorities Communication - Able to take calls and respond to inquiries Computer Applications - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word; experienced in looking up information in computer systems and applications; experienced in navigating banking and financial system websites Physical Demands: The physical demands for this position are Light.
