Job Description
Electronics Engineers in the New Product Development team are in charge of PCB design combining electrical and electronic engineering.
The electronic designed in our distribution business line consists of, but not limited to, switching (MOSFET), PWM, Power Supply, Current Sensors, Logic PCBs. These can be fitted in Circuit Breakers, Switches, RCCBs, Relays, PDU (Power Distribution Units), CBP (Circuit Breaker Panels). These product have a range of current from 0.1 Amp to 600 Amp and for a range of voltage from 5V to 1200 V (AC/DC). While our components are designed for both military and commercial aerospace applications, they are used in a wide range of applications such as, but not limited to, military vehicles, oil and gas mining, heavy duty construction equipment, farm equipment.
--- The primary responsibilities of an Electronics engineer in the New Product Development team include designing, developing, qualifying, supporting and manage obsolescence of electronic PCBs by focusing on safety, cost, reliability, sustainability and quality.
--- Implicated in a project from the conceptual idea and detail of the design to testing, qualification and industrialization for full rate production.
--- Conduct specifications and requirements based design activities.
--- Produce analysis and justification in order to develop and justify conformity of design to requirements. Among others, these analysis include:
o Circuit Design
o Electronic components selection
o Schematics creation (Cadence Allegro)
o Circuit Simulation (P-Spice)
o Heat dissipation
o Board Layout using components footprints (Cadence Allegro)
o Calculation of Dielectric Withstanding properties
o Selection of PCB number of layers
o Generation of Gerber files
o MTBF calculation
o Obsolescence Management
--- Produce experimental technology validation plan
--- Produce component verification plan
--- Research appropriate solutions with purchasing and industrialization team to fit with target costs and time scale.
--- Support Supply Chain and the Quality department to resolve supplier issues.
--- Work in an integrated program team with representative of quality, supply chain, industrialization, production, sales & marketing, program and other engineering representative (draftsman, experts, electronic engineer) to develop or enhance products within a predefine timeline, cost targets and technical requirements
--- Team up with other engineers and technical experts to ensure conformity of product against all requirements and to identify technical risk and mitigation plan early in the development phase
--- Work with the test group to define test plans, follow execution of tests and analyze test results, help in producing tests reports.
--- Coordinate with the engineering team from other Safran sites (in the US and abroad) to conduct concurrent engineering, share knowledge and potentially dispatch work to centers of excellence.
Complementary Description
--- Interface with customers to discuss technical specification, justify design and potential deviation, review qualification results and analyze customer change request.
--- Interface with configuration management team to ensure proper records of drawings, specifications and justification notes.
--- Performs other duties and tasks as necessary to support the business and the engineering teams
--- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
--- Must be willing to work overtime as necessary. Extra hours may be required during business peaks.
--- Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%)
--- Adhere to all safe work practices and contributes to the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.

Basic Qualifications:
--- Bachelor's Degree in Electrics / Electronics field from an accredited institution.
--- Internship experience in an engineering capacity.
--- Knowledge or the ability to learn Cadence Allegro / P-Spice or Orcad.
--- Knowledge or the ability to learn electronics components and electronic design
--- Knowledge or the ability to learn Power electrics
Preferred Qualifications:
--- Master's Degree in Electrics / Electronics from an accredited institution.
--- Fluent French and/or Spanish
Physical Demands:
--- While performing the duties of the position, this role will be regularly required to stand, walk sit, lift, use hands and fingers, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms and observe with naked eye or via various instruments.
--- This role will occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment is mainly in office but depending on the phase of the project could be split between office and testing or production floor areas. The environment in some areas may requires wearing PPE or other equipment.
