Job Description:

The Senior Director/Vice President of Engineering (SD/VP) plans and directs all aspects of engineering and technology development projects within the Bartelt business. The SD/VP leads the Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Research & Development and departments, assuring completeness and excellence of execution of all projects On-Time and In-Full and supports development of new technology for competitive advantage. As a Senior Director/Vice President of Engineering (SD/VP) with Bartelt Packaging, a ProMach Company product brand, you will---

  • Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and other ProMach businesses.
  • Oversee day to day activities for all Project Management, Engineering and R&D personnel; manage engineering and technology resources, backlogs, and queuing of all work.
    • Assist in establishing project priorities; provide project leadership, as required, to achieve excellence in execution.
      • Coordinate with Commercial Leader and Project Management; project scopes, technical specifications, schedules, and critical paths; assist in reviewing and approving engineering aspects of machine quotations.
        • Support Sales and Marketing department by providing the engineering and technology insight necessary in establishing the appropriate design criteria.
        • Establish business goals and objectives within the Project Management, Engineering and R&D departments, which will maximize resources and maintain efficient and effective utilization in a world-class performance atmosphere.
        • Interface with other ProMach businesses to challenge and test Bartelt engineering and technology practices to further develop state of the art and best-in-class portfolio of machinery.
          • Lead in developing and sharing best practices and procedures; provides technical expertise to customers and colleagues.
          • Provide accurate and timely activity reports, project status, OTIF measurements.
          • Coordinate all resources with other departments as business needs demand.
          • Assist field technicians when engineering issues escalate; provides or directs support for installations, services calls, etc.
          • Advise manufacturing and service personnel on proper operation of machine platforms; troubleshoot problems.
          • Oversee research and development, test and evaluation efforts.
          • Develop competitive differentiation by ensuring team has best-in-class technical talent to innovate and engineer, help win business and solve challenging problems.
          • Develop and manage multi-year product line roadmap and strategy in collaborative, multi-function, team environment.
          • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with Bartelt design and construction standards and local, state, and federal codes and ordinances. Supervisory Responsibilities:
            • Manage the Project Management, Mechanical and Electrical, Research and Development and Technical Publications groups. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises several non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Bartelt policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
              • Establish staff performance expectations and provide regular feedback from both informal and scheduled reviews
              • Coach and resolve conflict and apply correct action as necessary to solve performance related issues Education, & Experience Requirements: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; more than10 years of engineering management experience in an organization producing engineered to order, automated high speed packaging machinery or equivalent combination of education and experience.
