Job Title: Director of Membership & Marketing
Reports to: General Manager
Department: Membership
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: Work closely with the General Manager, Membership
Coordinator and other department heads. Ensure member expectations
are exceeded in every aspect of the club. Responsible for
development and implementation of programs, projects, and
activities designed to increase and retain membership in the club.
Responsible for new membership sales and building and managing
prospect databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are
not limited to:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Membership Administration
-Maintain the club's database of member files.
-Plan and implement strategies to meet club membership goals.
-Develop and ensure the established procedures for processing
prospective members' applications.
-Assist prospective members in fulfilling application
requirements.
-Assist prospective members in understanding of all aspects of
membership and the availability of any current incentives.
-Conduct an orientation program for new members.
-Hold prospective and new member functions.
-Promote/request personal referrals from existing members.
-Process member resignations; develop exit interviews and reports
on any trends related to resignations.
-Oversee club incentives.
-Provide comprehensive reports to management.
-Personally meet each club member and instill confidence that the
club is operated in the best interests of its membership.
-Serve on applicable club committees to assure that members'
interests are consistently addressed.
-Track the success (performance) of all membership activities.
MANAGEMENT/ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:
-Accept and support management decisions related to the club.
-Analyze and respond to problem situations in a timely, productive
manner.
-Prioritize, schedule and delegate work activities in a timely,
productive manner.
-Submit reports in a timely manner.
-Maintain a good working relationship with club members.
-Track indicators of activity and productivity.
-Manage all aspects of collateral production, in conjunction with
the advertising agency.
-Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure all
processes are followed and billing is complete and accurate.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
-Speak clearly when dealing with management, staff, and club
members.
-Maintain a professional relationship with management, staff and
club members.
-Communicate club positions/policies to staff in a professional
manner.
-Write routine reports and correspondence.
-Conduct Membership meetings for prospects and new members. Must be
comfortable with presenting materials in group settings.
FISCAL MANAGEMENT:
-Establish and follow the approved operating budget for Marketing
and Membership activities.
-Assure that quality and cost standards are consistently
attained.
-Control purchasing and costs.
-Monitor and assist in the development of all financial documents
related to the club.
