Job Description:
DescriptionThis position involves leading the NCF library,
overseeing its operations, collections, and services, ensuring
alignment with the college's academic mission, promoting research
and student learning, managing staff, developing strategic plans,
and advocating for the library's needs to faculty, administration,
and the broader community and relevant experience in academic
libraries with accreditation related to the library's standards and
practices within the institution's accrediting body.Examples of
DutiesDeveloping collections and delivering services that support
and encourage the academic endeavors of faculty, students, and
staff building a community of knowledgeable and critical consumers
of information.Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the programs and
services of the Jane Bancroft Cook Library. Set goals and
objectives for the library.Develop and implement assessment for
library services and resources, including collections, public
services (instruction, reference), access services (circulation,
interlibrary loan), space, events and new programs. Communicate
library assessment data internally, campus wide, and externally as
appropriate.Provide adequate and appropriate library and
learning/information resources, services, and support for its
mission and accreditation.Ensure an adequate number of professional
and other staff with appropriate education or experiences in
library and/or other learning/information resources to accomplish
the mission of the institution and accreditation.Provides (a)
student and faculty access and user privileges to its library
services and (b) access to regular and timely instruction in the
use of the library and other learning/information resources.Work
with NCF Office of Information Technology to enhance library
services using most appropriate information technology
tools.Provide administrative leadership to all departments within
the library.Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal
laws, Board of Governors Regulations, College regulations and
policies.Develop and maintain effective liaisons with all segments
of NCF and the local community.Be responsible for Library budget
analysis and formation, including analyzing budget and library
purchasing needs. Direct the preparation of budgets; authorize
expenditures.Direct library collection development and evaluation
of library donations.Work closely with Provost to recommend and set
all Library policies and procedures. -Develop, implement, and
review library policies and procedures.Recruit, select, and
evaluate professional and paraprofessional personnel.Provide
information, assistance and support to the New College Foundation
in their fund-raising and development efforts. Participate in donor
development and stewardship and other fundraising
activities.Develop and maintain effective liaisons with all
segments of NCF and the local community.Represent NCF and the
library on statewide groups such as FLVC Library Services, Council
of State University Libraries (CSUL), Tampa Bay Library Consortium
(TBLC).Serve as NCF representative to the Council of State
University Libraries (CSUL) and the Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC)
Members Council.Serve on NCF, or community-based committees,
councils, working groups and task forces as appropriate.Participate
in local, national, and international professional library
organizations.Liaise with institutional membership organizations,
such as HathiTrust, Center for Research Libraries (CRL), and
Lyrasis.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsThe AVP of
Library and Information Services must have the ability to develop
and to articulate a forward-looking vision for academic libraries
in the 21st century. Candidates should have demonstrated successful
administrative and financial management experience in an academic
library, a thorough understanding of the use of technology in a
library setting, a service orientation, a collegial leadership
style, and an understanding of and respect all the stakeholders in
the library and the institutions it serves.Excellent communication
skills are required for this important position. The successful
candidate will be expected to cultivate an organizational climate
based upon respect, service, open communication, and cooperation,
and will develop and execute a strategic plan to support the
missions and visions of NCF.Demonstrated success in fundraising and
skills in building and developing donor relations are
desirable.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Library or
Information Science from an ALA accredited program and a record of
scholarly achievement (research and teaching) and professional
engagement (service) commensurate with the level of the position.An
additional advanced degree in an academic discipline within the
Arts and Sciences. Five years of successful administrative and
financial management experience in an academic library.New College
