POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Mental Health Consumer with 2 years
college in Human Services area, or 2 years college in unrelated
field with one year experience working with adults with mental
disorders, or high school diploma with one year experience working
with adults with mental disorders. May have related training with
one year experience working with adults with mental illnesses.
Working includes volunteer hours. Valid Florida Driver s License
with good driving record and valid auto insurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
Develop therapeutic rapport with clients and demonstrate a recovery
oriented approach. Facilitate individual and group session s aid in
development of therapeutic relationships.
Provide case management services to an assigned group of
individuals. Assume primary responsibility for assessing family
strengths, challenges, and needs.
Obtains collateral information and collaborates with clients
families, support systems, outside providers and involved agencies
regarding progress in treatment and continuity of care.
Demonstrate knowledge of community resources to assist individuals
in accessing and learning about related community resources and
Referrals Complete, document and follow up on referrals including
collateral contacts, discharges, etc.
Other Related Duties Peer reviews, consultation, treatment team
meetings, collaborate with community partners, adhere to
departmental and agency policies, procedure, and processes, state
WORK ENVIRONMENT/Physical Demands: Peer Advocates are required to
work in the field in different environments. If employed in
hospitals/offices, work in clean, well-lit establishments, but they
can be exposed to various health conditions. Sits, stands, bends,
lifts and moves intermittently during work hours. Is subject to
frequent interruptions. Is involved with clients, residents, family
members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.,
in a behavioral health setting. The job can be very
POSITION TYPE, EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL: This is a
full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per
week, Monday - Friday - 8:30-5:00. Some early morning, evening and
weekend hours when needed. Travel is required.
