Job Description Summary The Associate General Counsel (AGC), under the direction of the Saint Leo University General Counsel, provides and assists in the provision of legal services to all departments within Saint Leo University. The AGC performs routine and complex legal work in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, real estate, contracting, governance, employment law, etc. Specific areas of responsibility will be determined based on the University needs and the successful candidate's interests and substantive background.Qualified candidates must have Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and a membership in good standing with the Florida Bar. Experience in Higher Education is strongly preferred. Job Description Salary Range: $100-130,000 based on experience JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant/Associate General Counsel will support the General Counsel in managing the University's risk in labor and employment matters, as well as other areas relevant to the university such as real estate, contracting, intellectual property, etc. DUTIES AND TASKS: --- Function as a member of the Legal Affairs Department--- Review, revise and assist with a broad variety of commercial contracts, leases, and other transactional documents--- Assist the General Counsel with risk management oversight--- Study and interpret laws, court decisions, ordinances, and other legal authorities, as needed, to deliver the foregoing services REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge: --- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school--- Membership in good standing in The Florida Bar--- Combination of education and experience that demonstrates necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, preferably in the Higher Education industry Skills: --- Analytic abilities, adaptability, and good judgment--- Written and verbal communications skills--- Comfort with using Excel and Word software--- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately--- Organizational skills Abilities: --- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines--- Ability to work independently--- Ability to work collaboratively--- Ability to find, understand, interpret and apply relevant case law, statutes, and regulations ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are a representation of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
