First Step of Sarasota is looking to add dedicated and professional
Admissions Counselors to our organization. As an Admissions
Counselor you will be facilitating customer intakes to the
Addictions Receiving Facility/Crisis Stabilization Unit and
identifying alternatives when unable to admit. You will be
responsible timely communication and documentation as well as
assisting with admissions to other treatment areas as needed.
Admissions Counselor Job Responsibilities:
Answers incoming calls to the Addictions or Baker Act Receiving
Facility in a professional manner, gathers pertinent screening
information, consults with admitting nurse, schedules admissions
only with approval from admitting nurse. Thoroughly documents all
calls, contacts, and information. Collects and compiles statistical
data as required.
Secures and accurately completes client inventory and log
sheet.
Identifies and obtains any client self-pay, insurance fees at time
of admission and relay information to client in a professional
manner.
Maintains and enters all identified CFBHN funded clients at time of
admission into SAFE program.
Completes intake documentation in EHR, written consents with
clients being admitted to the Addictions or Baker Act Receiving
Facility. ARF staff will complete necessary paperwork and complete
drug screen prior to admittance to unit.
Identifies alternative interventions to referring entities if
unable to admit with approval of DON, Director of Emergency
Services or on Call Provider. Maintains listing of alternative
interventions.
Is knowledgeable of all involuntary placement procedures.
Provides general program information on the Addictions and Baker
Act Receiving Facility to potential clients, family members, and
referral sources.
Communicates frequently with all medical, clinical, and support
staff to maintain up-to-date information regarding scheduled
admissions and discharges.
Accurately completes admission log, completes end-of-shift report,
providing all required information for ongoing communication of
shift events. Completes daily census, as requested.
Keeps supervisor informed of all issues concerning job
functions.
Assists with other duties, as assigned such as helping train other
new hires in the admissions department.
Maintains clients confidence and protects operations by keeping
information confidential; following established confidentiality
policy and procedures; maintaining professional boundaries with
clients.
Completes and attends all required departmental meetings and
trainings required to remain in compliance with FSOS policies.
