Job Description:

Responsible for demonstrating and promoting SRIM's core value of the Golden Rule by treating others, including residents, families, and associates, in the same way we would like to be treated by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for and accountable for the planning and coordination of all functions of the maintenance department to ensure an efficiently run community for Environmental Services with minimal supervision and guidance from the executive director.*
  • Monitors, coordinates, or completes maintenance duties to ensure the community is always in a clean, orderly, safe, and attractive condition.*
  • Reacts and takes the lead in emergency repairs of any kind regarding equipment breakdown, seeks methods for completing repairs.*
  • Develops and follows through on aesthetic improvement plans both inside and outside the building that includes but not limited to painting, including touch-up painting, staining woodwork, drywall repairs, and minor building repairs.*
  • Monitors expenditures monthly to ensure compliance with department financial monthly budget.*
  • Provides hands on repairs on an as needed basis to ensure a pro-active approach to all maintenance activities, and monitors and schedules repairs as needed.*
  • Resolves issues/problems with contractors through investigation and negotiations to ensure the best possible outcome for all parties involved with support from the executive director.*
  • Assists new residents with moving furniture in their room as well as moving residents when appropriate as deemed necessary by the executive director.*
  • Coordinates contracted services and monitors all maintenance functions to ensure adherence to schedule and quality are in the best interest of the community.*
  • Performs daily walk-around supervision of all responsible areas both inside and outside to ensure all work is completed correctly and timely.*
  • Responds promptly and courteously to residents, families, and visitors request for assistance always.*
  • Speaks to/interacts with residents constantly, showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.*
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.*
  • Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits always.*
  • Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.*
  • Provides assistance to associates when requested or required.*
  • Knows, understands, and follows established policies and procedures in emergency situations.*
  • Acts as essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather, and is required to report or remain at community until released by supervisor.*
  • Knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations.*
  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures always.*
  • Complies with attendance and call off policy.*
  • Attends and/or participates in trainings, in-service, and mandatory meetings.*
  • Wears clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy always.*
  • Refrains from discussing resident issues with families and visitors, and refers all inquiries to immediate nursing supervisor.*
  • Serves and assists residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
  • Responsible for participating in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar.
  • Takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly.
  • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises in the Environmental Services Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, inventory software, and payroll systems. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.
