Join our dynamic team and support your community in the acceptance,
preliminary sorting, segregation, and packaging of hazardous waste
and regulated waste received through the County collection
programs. You are a part of the household hazardous waste program
which is to provide a safe solution for household hazardous waste
processing rather than disposal. Apply today and help keep Sarasota

Greet customers, verify disposal receipts, and direct customers to
the Chemical Collection Centers.
Perform preliminary chemical analysis on unknown materials.
Lab Packs and consolidates hazardous materials and wastes into
drums for transportation and disposal in accordance with regulatory
requirements and established contractor guidelines.
Prepare container inventory sheets and track materials in
spreadsheets.
Load, deliver, and off-load containers of waste at approved
disposal facilities.
Perform scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all collection
facilities and surrounding areas.
Use, maintain, and calibrate environmental monitoring instruments
such as gas detectors and organic vapor analyzers.
Pick up and transport waste to the main collection facility for
processing.
Hours/Days: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Days will either be Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday.
Both schedules have two consecutive days off.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
Must pass OSHA 40-Hour Hazwoper and DOT HM 181/126 certifications
within six (6) months of employment.
Must satisfactorily pass a medical evaluation demonstrating the
ability to use a respirator.
Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50
pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to
passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who
fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified
from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Starting Pay Range: $16.50 (Step 1) - $19.72 (Step 7)
Position Salary Range: $16.50 (Step 1) - $24.26 (Step 14)
