Job Description:
Job Description Summary The Safety Coordinator is responsible
for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of
safety programs and procedures specific to electrical construction
projects. This role involves conducting safety inspections,
assisting with training programs, and ensuring that safety
standards are adhered to on-site. The Safety Coordinator works
closely with the director of safety, branch management, safety
personnel at other business units, site supervisors, and workers to
promote a safe working environment and culture. Essential Duties
and Responsibilities 1. Safety Program Support: Assist in the
development and implementation of safety policies and procedures
related to electrical construction. Help ensure compliance with
OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, and company safety standards.
Participate in the continuous improvement of safety programs based
on site-specific needs and changes in regulations. 2. Site
Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections on electrical
construction sites to identify potential hazards. Ensure that
personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and being used
correctly. Report safety violations and unsafe conditions to
management and recommend corrective actions. 3. Training and
Orientation: Conduct safety training sessions for new employees and
subcontractors, with a focus on electrical safety. Help organize
and deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings. Ensure that all
workers understand and follow safety protocols, including
lockout/tagout procedures. 4. Accident Reporting and Investigation:
Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and
near-misses involving electrical work. Prepare initial reports on
safety incidents, including documentation of findings and
recommendations. Support Management in developing corrective
actions and preventive measures. 5. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain
up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and standards specific
to electrical construction. Ensure that safety documentation is
accurate, complete, and accessible for audits or inspections.
Assist in coordinating with local authorities and regulatory bodies
during safety inspections. 6. Risk Assessment and Hazard
Identification: Participate in risk assessments and job hazard
analyses (JHAs) for electrical construction tasks. Help identify
potential risks and hazards, and recommend strategies to mitigate
them. Work with project teams to implement safety measures in the
field. 7. Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development and
implementation of emergency response plans for electrical
incidents. Ensure that emergency procedures are communicated to all
site personnel. Help coordinate emergency drills and review their
effectiveness. 8. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain safety
records, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident
reports. Assist in preparing safety performance reports for review
by management. Ensure that all safety documentation is organized
and readily accessible. 9. Collaboration and Communication: Work
closely with the Operations Manager to communicate safety
expectations and protocols to all site personnel. Assist in
coordinating safety efforts with subcontractors and other third
parties. Foster a positive safety culture by promoting safe work
practices and encouraging reporting of hazards. Attend virtual
meetings with safety personnel from other business units
facilitated by the director of safety. Engage and participate in
these meetings and provide updates to management on action items
for implementation. Position Requirements · Education: Bachelor’s
degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related
field (preferred). · Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience
in safety position, with a focus on electrical construction. ·
Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification,
OSHA 500 Certificate, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or
similar credentials. · Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of electrical
safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E), OSHA regulations, and
construction safety practices (or working on obtaining
certifications) · Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and
leadership skills. Ability to conduct training and deliver
presentations. · Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate
construction sites, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, and
wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Skills and
Qualifications · Skills to foster a strong safety culture and
assist safety teams. · 2 years of experience in field construction
safety. · Excellent communication skills for conveying safety
information to diverse audiences. · Strong problem-solving skills
to address safety concerns and incidents effectively. ·
Interpersonal skills for collaborating with employees, contractors,
and regulatory agencies. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities · Working
on the understanding of occupational health and safety regulations
(OSHA, local regulations, industry-specific standards). · Knowledge
of safety protocols, procedures, and best practices across various
industries. · Familiarity with emergency response planning and
crisis management strategies. · Understanding of risk assessment
and hazard identification methodologies. · Excellent communication
skills for conveying safety information to diverse audiences.
(Bilingual highly desired) · Strong problem-solving skills to
address safety concerns and incidents effectively. · Interpersonal
skills for collaborating with employees, contractors, and
regulatory agencies. Compensation & Benefits Commensurate with
